Why Join?
Education
Joining the Sons of Pericles allows you to apply for multiple scholarships to further your education. We have had brothers win scholarships at the chapter, district, and national level. In 2018, the AHEPA national scholarship had over 600 applications filled out and only 26 people won. Two of those 26 were SOP Tampa's own Karter F. Lenardos and Micheal Vlahos. They were the only winners from District 2.
Heratage
We are proud Greek-Americans. Most of our brothers are of Greek decent and some are actually from Greece. In the summer of 2018, four of our brothers went on a pilgrimage back to Greece, through Ionian Village. They went to the monastery that was the birthplace of the Greek Revolution. They traveled Greece, the place where there ancestors were born.
AHEPA and the Sons of Pericles believes in giving back to Greece. AHEPA has its own hospital in Greece, followed by giving to many Greek charities. The Sons of Pericles has also given to Greek charities in the past. The most recent one was in 2018-19, and SOP Tampa was happy to contribute to this cause.
Brotherhood
Our brotherhood runs deep. We are all devoted to each other. We will drop anything and everything for a brother. We've gone on trips together, played sports together, and grew up together. We truly have that family feel at SOP Tampa.
Service
The Sons of Pericles Tampa is devoted to serving our communities. Our communities include the City of Tampa, the State of Florida, the United States of America, and Greece. We have done fundraiser such as selling t-shirts, hoodies, and water canisters to help support these communities. We have also done food drives, raffles, and car washes to help those in need.
Mentorship
The Sons of Pericles Tampa is very close with AHEPA of Tampa. We have multiple members who are both apart of SOP and AHEPA. They have helped donate supplies and money to lots of our charities.
